My Ancestry
For many years, my hobby has been recording my family history, which at times has been challenging as I moved so far away from my family roots. With the many advances in genealogy, I feel it wise to place my findings on the internet, and I have loaded it to Ancestry.com
Below are some highlights of my ancestors on my father's side.
Below are some highlights of my ancestors on my father's side.
Alphonse Mossot (1852-1915) & Josephine Mossot (nee Ricketts) (1852-1933)
Alphones Mossot and Josephine Mossot were my great-grandparents. Alphones was French and his bride, Josephine, was English.
This picture shows their wedding October 5, 1909. They married in England, and later moved to Port Elizabeth, South Africa. The Mossot Family Grave is located at South End Cemetery H-16-P, Port Elizabeth, South Africa. |
Anita Josephine Mossot (1884-1951)
Anita Josephine Mossot (above) was my paternal grandmother, and one of three children born to Alphonse and Josephine. She was educated at the Collegiate Girls School in Port Elizabeth. She was awarded this medal by the City of Port Elizabeth for placing third in the Cape Province in her School Elementary exam 1899, and received a ten pound bursary as documented here by UNISA:

The medal was made in the UK by Elkington & Co. and so beautifully depicts the coat of arms of Port Elizabeth and inscribed with her full name, that it is a family “treasure”.

Harold George Val Davies (1913 - 2001)
Harold George Val Davies was Anita Josephine Mossot's first son, and he was my father. Below he is pictured with my mother at Orient Beach East London in 1951.
